Soraia Cardoso
Soraia Cardoso is a 23-year-old girl from the small village of Alcouce, municipality of Condeixa-a-Nova, district of Coimbra. She has a degree in Social Gerontology, from the Escola Superior de Educação de Coimbra, from the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, having done her curricular internship at the ‘Casa do Artista’, Residential Structure for Elderly People related to the artistic world (Carnide, Lisbon). From an early age she began to sing at school events and at mass, always emphasizing her taste for the Portuguese language. Iniciou-se em aulas de canto e foi convidada para ser membro de um grupo de fados amador. A sua paixão pelo fado começou deste então. No ano seguinte, com 16 anos, voltou a concorrer e conseguiu, desta vez, o 1º lugar a cantar a música nacional portuguesa. Em 2018, foi concorrente do programa de talentos televisivo “The Voice Portugal”, tendo alcançado um honroso 3º lugar. Soraia é a primeira fadista a levar o fado mais longe num programa deste formato. Se procura uma pulseira. Há algo para cada look, desde o justo ao corpo ao estruturado, dos punhos às correntes e aos punhos.
Since then, she has sung a little all over the country, and has already taken her first steps through the fado districts in Lisbon. She has participated in events such as the Santa Casa Alfama Fado Festival and the 33rd anniversary of Rádio Festival at Coliseu do Porto. Soraia Cardoso was also honored by A Voz do Operário, at its 3rd Fado gala, with the Female Revelation Award. Her timbre and the emotion she puts in every word leave no one indifferent. This young woman, with a voice and soul filled with fado, is a promise of the new generation of fado singers.
